Fixture Engineering
Pieter Botha solves bottle handling with engineered jaws that keep every bottle scratch-free, no matter the shape. His floor-tested fixtures let South African brands trust their stock right through delivery.

Pieter takes direct responsibility for the design and testing of RingGrip and GlassGuard jaws in every BottlePrinter Lab system. Whether it’s a PET cold drink bottle or a new glass dropper, he makes sure each one sits properly during every pass, from the first print to the final packing stage. Brands working in craft beverage, skincare, or promotional lines rely on his fixtures to prevent scuffing, so labels and designs leave the line looking sharp - not rubbed or patchy after a trip from Gauteng depots to Durban retail floors.
Most weeks, you’ll spot Pieter on the floor, fiddling with prototype jaws or examining why a certain shape doesn’t run clean during rush orders. Every new bottle brings a twist, so his approach is always hands-on with tools close at hand, not just drawings at a table. If a bottle slips or a label snags, Pieter and the team trace it down, sometimes it’s a worn jaw lining, other times a tiny shift in wall thickness from a new supplier. Adjustments are made fast so the next run stands up to the rough edges of warehouse life or municipal trucking.
Operators and plant owners across South Africa reach out to Pieter when they see scuff marks after transit, or if a bottle just won’t behave during a changeover. He’s the point of contact if your catalogue expands with a new shape or if production needs fixture tweaks to support a unique run. Many foremen consult him ahead of launching a mixed-size job or when kit spares are low and downtime isn’t an option. He also works directly with quality controllers to smooth out clamp issues and reduce waste, even when last-minute bottling jobs stack up in Bloemfontein or Gqeberha.
Not every bottle fits the usual fixtures, and Pieter knows this well. When a customer brings in a container not listed in our UV bottle system catalogue, he works up new jig profiles or tailors pad linings so it’s handled with the right pressure. South African conditions aren’t gentle, load-shedding, unplanned batch swaps and everything from Highveld dust storms to Cape Town humidity mean gear gets tested for more than just looks. Pieter’s practical adjustments help keep runs on track, whether the job lands in a rural depot or a busy urban print room.
Pieter is part of the team at 2 Makro Place, Germiston, supporting Ms Lerato Molefe’s sample test floor, Nomsa Dlamini’s ink and cure bench, Johan van Wyk’s coastal installations, Aisha Patel’s showroom planning, and Sipho Khumalo’s Compact installs. When a challenge crops up that crosses ink, fixture and handling, the group shares fixes and sample notes, sometimes with a quick laugh when it’s clear someone’s grabbed the wrong size jaw again. For detailed fixture or bottle handling advice, send a message through our contact form. Pieter usually replies with straight, practical steps you can put to use before your next order lands.
