What we showed at the open day

The open day at our Sunnyrock lab brought together people from local craft beverage lines, skincare filling rooms, and promo product teams. Visitors walked the bay and watched our UV bottle printing systems run with real glass and aluminium stock supplied by Gauteng and Cape Town bottlers. We demoed single and multi-colour direct decoration on short-run spirits, olive oil, and lotion bottles. The lab team fielded questions on print adhesion after packing, shelf handling, and long-haul transit, especially for brands moving between the coast and the Highveld.

We ran live sets with our sample programme, showing how logos and artwork stay sharp without rubbing off under normal handling. Operators got a close look at pre-treatment, artwork alignment, and how we manage print consistency in tough South African conditions. Many were surprised by how our systems handled Highveld dust, variable humidity, and the odd bout of load-shedding. All kit shown operates on standard 230 V mains or three-phase supply, depending on bottle volume and output needs.

Visitors and feedback from the floor

Trade media and sign shop owners from across Gauteng, Polokwane, and Durban arrived early to see process changes since our last demo. Many wanted to know how the UV systems keep up during peak periods and with short lead times. Our team walked them through set-up, cleaning, and rinsing, key topics for any bottler handling more than one bottle size per shift.

Feedback was frank. Owners liked the honest demo without any staged production runs. Some asked about mixing sample batches so their clients can see print durability first-hand before confirming a large order. Others raised questions on municipal water quality and preferred substrates, a chance for our lab team to compare in-house results with what sign rooms and filling lines see out in the field.

How new UV decoration options fit local needs

Operators from the craft spirits and personal care sectors pinned down real-world concerns, labels peeling off in coastal humidity, ink fading mid-way through a season, and artwork alignment on mixed bottle shapes. We showed direct UV decoration as a way to solve specific problems many face from Durban up the coast to Gqeberha.

Our systems print logos, batch info, and branding directly onto curved or flat bottles, so artwork survives transport, stacking, and shelf wear. The open day let visitors compare UV prints with legacy label samples and discuss options for tall, embossed, or irregular bottles not suited to standard label application. We encouraged everyone to bring their own sample bottles for future test runs using our sample programme.

How to organise a lab visit or get samples

We’re keeping the door open for future visits, by arrangement. Any trade, print room, or filling bay can send a message through our contact form to book a slot or request a practical session with their own bottles. Most weeks, we can run demo prints on short notice, especially for teams facing urgent production deadlines or last-minute changes in bottle sourcing.

For those not based near Germiston, we offer full project notes and sample packs by courier. We encourage trade and media to see and feel the print quality before the next order lands. Details for press and media contact are on our press kit and media contact pages.

Next steps and follow-up for the trade

The open day wrapped up with a roundtable on new variants in our UV print catalogue and improvements to the finishes available to local brands. We’ll keep reporting practical findings, especially where South African climate and handling expose print weaknesses. Watch our resources and notes pages for updates.

Media teams, owner-operators, and brand managers who missed the session can request site-specific guidance or ask for a call-back by emailing our contact form. We welcome visits from teams in every region, from Bloemfontein to the Cape, who want to see the kit up close before investing.
