Demo bay for Eastern Cape bottle decoration

Our Baywest Mall demo bay in Gqeberha was set up for Eastern Cape craft beverage makers, skincare packers and promotional lines. This is where you can see the MiniLine Compact in action on local glass and plastic stock, with realistic samples and handling. The bay runs most weeks, giving teams a hands-on look at direct-to-bottle UV decoration that holds up to local packing, transit and shelf touch. We understand the differences between coastal humidity and Highveld dust, so every demo here is tuned for Gqeberha’s real production needs.

Who this demo bay suits (and when it does not)

The Gqeberha bay suits teams from Port Elizabeth, Uitenhage, Jeffreys Bay, East London and surrounding towns looking to move branding in-house or expand short runs. Owners of bottling lines, contract fillers, or marketing teams who want to see print quality up close before investing find this most useful. If your operation uses highly specialised bottle shapes, non-standard label areas or very high volumes above the MiniLine Compact footprint, consider another showroom with larger platforms. The bay is not set up for closed production or long-run samples carried out onsite, those require advance planning at the Germiston floor.

How it works: from booking to live sample prints

Booking a demo is straightforward. Send a message through our contact form with your product type, bottle size and the finish you want to see. We will confirm a slot, usually within the next cycle the demo bay is open. On the day, bring a few unfilled bottles, clean and representative. We show the MiniLine Compact setup, print a sample file, and talk through maintenance and operator skills needed under South African conditions. You see and handle the decorated bottles yourself, including after basic friction and tap water rinse tests, so you know the print will hold up when it lands in local shops, markets or events.

Example: Gqeberha team’s test day

A craft gin maker from Newton Park brought 330 ml glass bottles and a sample cream PET to test different finishes. We loaded their artwork, adjusted for bottle curvature and ran live prints. After a round of handling and wiping (with rags from the team’s own packing bay), they saw that inks did not rub off. The owner asked about cleaning cycles during load-shedding, and we showed how to pause and restart without losing print registration. They left with decorated samples, a finish chart, and answers about power, ventilation and operator training requirements.

What to prepare before emailing

To get the most from your demo, collect some information before emailing us at our contact form. This cuts down on back-and-forth and keeps the day focused on your actual needs. We only need a few details at first, with the rest sorted at the bay. If you want to compare outputs, see our Finishes page.

Common pitfalls and how to avoid them

First-timers sometimes arrive with bottles that are dusty, oily, or incorrect for their fill line, making it hard to judge print quality. Others bring artwork in the wrong size or file type, which delays live prints. If power concerns like load-shedding, humid coastal conditions or unique handling requirements are not raised early, you may miss practical tips. Avoid disappointment by prepping bottles as they would be filled, using real production art, and asking about all practical floor concerns.
