Who usually books Mbombela appointments

The Mbombela showroom sits close to White River and Kruger gate traffic, so it’s practical for operators handling bulk amenity bottles for game lodges, local spirits launches or boutique skincare lines. Owners and foremen from Sabie, Barberton, and even Hoedspruit visit when they want to check surface finishes before placing a real order. The team sets up typical demo runs and brings out actual stock samples (not digital mock-ups). If you need UV print that will handle repeated handling in lodge rooms, local bakkie delivery, or craft pack assembly, this floor shows it in working order.

It’s not meant for print brokers chasing quick price lists, or for trade reps who only need a brochure drop-off. Mbombela is an appointment floor, not a shelf display shop. We’re hands-on and expect visitors to bring their own blank bottles or jars for proper test prints. If your next order comes from Nelspruit or White River and you prefer to see proof in person, book a booking and bring materials, nothing is left to chance.

How the Mbombela demo floor works

The appointment area runs out of Shop 14, Riverside Mall, so you can drop in by booking most weeks (we don’t take walk-ins due to demo setup time). A typical session fits around your supply chain: bring a handful of the same bottles or tubes you plan to order, cleaned and ready, then we run a UV print pass so you can see adhesion, clarity and colour fastness. We recommend testing both glass and plastic in local conditions, especially if your operation faces Highveld dust or fluctuating power supply.

All finishing and curing is done on-site, and our team will let you handle the printed samples, hit them with water, and try scratching or rubbing the surface. We talk through your floor layout, typical quantities, and what your filling or capping workflow looks like. This way, you get answers that fit actual South African production, not just a global spec sheet. Bring photos of your line or past issues if you want a second opinion, some teams find it useful to discuss failures and common pack mistakes.

A short worked example

Last quarter, a small spirits bottler from Hazyview booked a session after three competing labels rubbed off during transport to a guest house in Kaapsehoop. They arrived with a sample batch of 375 ml glass and 50 ml PET minis. We tested both batches on our in-house printer using their actual artwork, then left the samples to dry for an hour, wiped them with a wet towel, and banged them together in a crate. Only the UV direct print held up to the handling, which gave them the confidence to scale up and avoid double-labelling costs.

This kind of practical, honest check can save you days on a launch or seasonal re-run. If you operate in the region and want to see what your preferred finish (matte, gloss or metallic) looks like on your specific stock, you’re welcome to book a demo and bring what you use daily. We can also run partial prints to compare colours for different supply batches.

What to prepare before you email

To get the most out of your Mbombela appointment, the team needs you to email a few details so we can set up the gear before you arrive. It helps to be as specific as possible about your lines, bottle types, and finishes. Booking notes and recent project case studies can be browsed at the Notes and Projects sections. Send a message through our contact form with your preferred date and time (our slots fill up around month-end), your business and contact details, and a quick rundown of what you want to see tested.

If you have any history with label failures, bottle scuffing, or transit issues in the Lowveld or Mozambican routes, mention this. Our floor team can recommend adjustments or run side-by-side samples for tough conditions. For general questions or access to our current print catalogue, just include your line details and ask to see samples in relevant finishes.

Who should not book and common pitfalls

If you’re an out-of-town rep expecting immediate samples to take away or just a quote on the spot, Mbombela is not the floor for you. We do not stock ready-made decorated bottles to hand out, nor do we run walk-in quoting. If you can’t bring actual bottle stock or don’t have your art files or sample requests prepped, you might struggle to get a useful demo.

It’s common for visitors to skip prepping bottles or to forget artwork, which delays the print cycle as the team needs time to convert or clean files. Some hope to see ten different finishes on six types in a single session, practically, two to three focused tests work best. Email early, so your slot is reserved around power cuts or supply delays.
