Sample Lab Day is our hands-on programme for teams who want certainty before scaling up UV bottle decoration. You book a lab run on real containers, using your artwork and chosen finishes, with the actual ink and curing tested on proper PET, glass, or aluminium. This is not a slide deck or a remote call. It is a practical, factory-floor session that helps you avoid surprises later. Most teams from Johannesburg, Pretoria, and the Vaal book in when they have a new launch due, a tricky statutory panel to keep clear, or a unique bottle shape or substrate.
Operations managers, line foremen, and product owners from craft beverage lines, personal care, and promotional supply book Sample Lab Day when order volume or artwork risk means guesswork will cost money. New entrants often have to balance creative finishes with tight compliance, while experienced teams use Sample Lab Day to prove a new ink or cure window before they tweak a full run. Working from Gauteng or Durban, site leads book a lab day to solve issues that look small on email but will eat time and Rand on the floor.
If you need a quieter or more compact setup, you might be better served by the MiniLine Compact or the InkFlow Station. If you only need panel or flat-pack work, see the Flat Panel Bench. For sleeves or label alignment, SleeveAlign Assist can solve what Sample Lab Day is not built for.
Start with your constraint list: what is non-negotiable for your order? Write these down before you decide on a fixture, ink, or finish. If you skip this step, artwork may crowd out statutory panels, or you will meet daylighting, packing or transit trouble later. Sample Lab Day is built for proving decoration on bottles that are going into real South African shipments, not for chasing speculative one-offs. For delicate or high-value runs, or if you are after long-shelf promotional lines, look at PromoRun Kit or CureCheck Lab for more controlled testing.
Teams who mix up programme fit often run late or pay more in rush fees. If you force a fit on the wrong equipment, expect to repeat the trial or double back on ink choice. If you only want to compare finishes, the Finishes page details our typical marks, glosses, and textures.
A frequent miss is not bringing or sending the correct bottle stock, or sending digital artwork that does not match your actual label or print area. Sometimes, teams leave artwork approval to the last minute, lose time redrawing something for the stat panel or recycling code, or forget to provide photos that show where the container will be filled, packed, or shelved. Each of these can add another week or a rush charge.
For Gauteng teams, it often helps to book a site photo review at the Jet Park sample bay or to email two or three photos before your day. Include your city, timing window, and brief constraints through our contact form. For Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha, and Bloemfontein, give us at least two weekdays' notice for sample handling or if you want to drop off containers.
At the end of a Sample Lab Day, we document the exact settings, ink batch, and fixture details used. A short note on what worked and what did not is added, so your next run builds on real lessons. If you are new to BottlePrinter Lab, two clear photos and a rough timing window usually get us started. For repeat teams, we keep just enough history to avoid repeating a past error (like a cure setting that failed in humid Durban, or a label overlap that only showed up in Highveld dust).
After your session, check the Sample Lab Day specifications and the Sample Lab Day service pages for more on what gets included, or browse our Projects section to read real field notes before you finalise your order.
